Hi guys, I know, its been a hot minute since I have posted anything. The summer slump really got to me, but I promise I will be posting a lot more now and in the future.
A lot has been happening and I might fill you in on all of that in another post but for now, I wanted to tell you more about new beginnings and something that I am embarking on starting today and that I have lovingly started to call “The Plant Project”.
So its September 1st, we are entering a new phase. The beginnings of a new phase, a new season or a new month are a great time to start something new. This is exactly what I plan on doing. It is a great time for reflection on yourself but also on the year that you have had so far. It has made me think about how I want to “end” the year and make it meaningful, at least for myself. I have been consuming a lot of information that is out there on all kinds of platforms like blogs, youtube, podcasts, documentaries, etc. and I am learning more and more with every bit of information.
So, what is new with me? For the past couple of weeks I have decided to give up meat and fish (ie. following a vegetarian diet). It came easy to me as it didn’t taste right to me anymore. The same thing happened to my mom around the same age that I am now – so who knows, maybe its a genetic thing. Anyhow, since it came this easy to me, I have made the decision to embark on a new challenge and change my diet to a fully plant-based diet for the next 3 months (or maybe even longer). If you like, you can follow me on this journey or even join me in the challenge. My sister and a friend are already joining in the challenge and I think, the more the merrier! There are a lot of videos that have inspired me to stop consuming animal products (which I am not going to be posting here as most of them are not for the faint-hearted, but if you wish to see them, please message me and I can send you the links). The personal reasons for me include my health, the environment and animal welfare. I don’t think I need to go too deep into each of these aspects as I assume that you all get the jist. If you need more information on each aspect, feel free to get in touch. If you do not know what a plant-based diet is, please check out this link for a more detailed explanation.
For now, I am challenging myself to three months on a plant-based diet and committing to it with this post as I am putting it out there on the internet and into the world (haha) and it will help me stay accountable. Furthermore, I want to keep you all updated on how it affects me personally in regards to weight-loss, mood, hormones, blood tests, energy levels, tastebuds, the works! So you can expect frequent posts and hopefully more frequent updates on Instagram and Insta-stories!
And for all the foodies out there, I got you! I am a foodie at heart and my recipes will be adapted to plant-based foods. There is an abundance of food out there and I am excited to be creating new recipes for you and for me (obviously, lol).
So lets get this plant project started!
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me and I will answer them to the best of my abilities.
Lots of love,
PS: Please note that I intentionally did not call it a “vegan diet” as the vegan lifestyle incorporates so much more than just diet. Taking babysteps is better than taking no steps.
